[Drugs that save people]

This picture was taken amid a jeep journey between Angolares and Porto Alegre, São Tomé Island, Africa. As a pharmacist I was interested in watching the process of medical care and the existing resources and what could be done with the same resources in the field. Obviously the diagnosis was mostly empiric and question based due to the lack of proper diagnosis support methods. I think that a intercontinental support platform should be raised in order to promote the sustainability of the system that should always take in consideration the formation of qualified locals. It is not about just drop everything we don't use anymore in Africa. That is not help at all. As I could  verify in the pharmacy, most of the drugs that were offered didn't adjust to the needs as they were in few amount for a short time and oftenly the prescribers didn't know them. The idea is to have a relatively wide range of drugs in such amount that is suitable for the needs and that can be used and afforded for the local pharmacy in the long run.
